Upgrade a system or system that accommodates both small and be sure to choose strategies for developing long-term period.
1. Why do we really have to upgrade or to modify the system? Decide who will be affected, and all the associated risks be sure to evaluate all the emotional component. Dig into the root of the intent to help understand the potential long-term solution.
2. What new applications are coming online in the next 12-24 months? Consumption of these applications will affect my storage?
3. What are the remaining lease payments? How many are there? What is my buyout number?
4. If we replace the system, how much potential we will need to purchase? Development projects shall be for 12 months. Check the requirements carefully and make sure you address the root issues of the potential for long-term plans.
5. What if the migration process, we will purchase a new system?
6. What other infrastructure projects if we opt for an upgrade rather than a full replacement can tackle?
7. If we choose to replace, how much of a learning curve will be there as my staff and I to become proficient with the new system?
8. Current RPO and RTO requirements for my DR do? Change in the next 24 months?
9. I am most familiar with the storage system or systems that team? Why?
10. How much extra capacity of the array is required in the next 12-24 months?
11. My Dr requirements will be over time? What we are looking at Dr?
12. What is the current applications are hosted on the slave or storage islands, I want to fall into a centralized system? Enough work for my current system has taken over the buffer?
13. What tools do I need on my storage array? Dedupe, Tiering, auto-caching, snapshots, replication, thin provisioning, etc.? Why? Will this solve the root issue?
14. The place, I have to do the system restore can use? DR, remote office, disk backup, archive?
15. Upgrading a valuable use of my existing array if I replace it? May allow to find new (Oracle System, VMWare backup target, TSM storage pool, dev, testing, quality assurance form, and dedicated)
